If today was a hard day

Maybe it was the meltdown in the pickup line. Maybe it was the third note home this week, school refusal, collapse after getting off of the school bus, or another provider suggesting you just weren't being consistent enough.

Here's what I want you to hear first: you haven't been doing anything wrong, and neither has your kid. A child who falls apart at transitions, refuses things that look easy, or gets labeled "too much" isn't broken and isn't defiant their nervous system is asking for something different than what's currently being asked of it. That's a mismatch. Not a character flaw, yours or theirs.

You're not broken, neither is your child, there's actually somewhere to go from here.

Because here's the part that gets missed: a kid who gets called "behavioral" often has one of the most beautiful ways of engaging with the world it just doesn't match what the room around them expects. Optimal Therapy Works exists to help kids find that out for themselves. We call it identity-building: real self-exploration, not behavior management. Real tools, real strategies, in real time.
